If you're looking for some fun and adventure on your stop at Roatan Honduras, you'll find it with an ATV off-road excursion and a visit to the Monkey and Sloth Hangout.

You'll meet your guide outside your Roatan cruise ship port where you'll board your comfortable transportation to your first stop at Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout a 15-minute drive away. This is a small family-run animal sanctuary in French Cay.  For animal lovers, you'll be able to interact with the sloths and monkeys. You'll also find Scarlet Macaws, parrots, the indigenous Agouti or Guatusa (Roatan Island rabbit), and a South American raccoon (only found in this part of the world). You'll have approximately 1-hour onsite with the animals.

You will board the transportation for a 20-minute air-conditioned drive to the base camp to enjoy your ATV 4-wheel ride. The ATVs are automatic transmissions and are easy to drive as a beginner or advanced rider. Your guide will give you a briefing on the operation and safety instructions before heading off on a guided adventure, follow the leader style behind your guide. A safety helmet is provided and must be worn at all times. Your ATV ride will take you through the lush jungle countryside and you'll be able to glimpse the wildlife that makes this island home. Some of the places you'll see are Punta Gorda, the Garifuna Village, Statue Park, Isery Restaurant Boat, and more! Enjoy views of the ocean while driving on dirt roads and over streams. You can satisfy your sense of adventure on this hour-and-a-half excursion.  

Your ride ends back at the base camp where you can change your clothes if you'd like as well as purchase food and drinks in the restaurant located there. You'll then board your transportation for the return trip to your Roatan cruise terminal.

Excursion Notes

• Bring along comfortable clothing, change of clothing, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, bug spray, cash for tips, souvenirs, snacks, etc.
• Observer only includes a round trip and interaction with the animals. It does not include ATV rides. 

Where we meet

For the Roatan ATV Off Road Adventure and Monkey Sloth Hangout Excursion, you will meet outside your Roatan cruise terminal (Coxen Hole and Port of Roatan Mahogany Bay), please consider it is a 5-10 minutes walk. All necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• The minimum participation age is 8 years old.
• Participants under the age of 16 must ride as a passenger behind an adult driving.
• The minimum age for driving is 16 years old however a parent or guardian must accompany the minor as a paying participant.
• All drivers must present a valid driver's license.
• All guests must sign a waiver before participation.
• Helmets must be worn at all times.
• This excursion may be bumpy in parts and not suitable for guests with limited mobility. This excursion is not allowed for pregnant guests.
• This Roatan ATV Off Road Adventure and Monkey Sloth Hangout Excursion may involve risks. We suggest you check with your elected person of choice to see if these possible risks might affect you.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
• Your ship misses/skips the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
  
• Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
