This Taino Bay, Puerto Plata Sightseeing and Beach Excursion begins outside the cruise center main gate of the port of Taino Bay, Puerto Plata. Your local Dominican Republic shore excursion guide will be waiting for you and will then show you to your comfortable air-conditioned transportation. Your first photo stop will be at the Fort San Felipe, which is also known as El Morro de San Felipe. Commissioned by King Felipe II of Spain in 1564 it wasn't completed until 1577. Its strategic location helped to guard the entrance to the city's seaport for hundreds of years.

Next, you'll stop for views and photos of the famed Neptune Statue that is situated on a small island just off the coast. Although quite impressive now, this statue has seen its share of woes. The 22 ft. bronze sculpture has been hacked for the valuable metal, toppled over several times, and finally hacked to bits. However, the Islanders have a true love for their guardian of the sea and it was returned to its full glory and now, with the support of 3 cables, once again rules the sea.
Your next sightseeing excursion stop will be at the Parque Independencia, which is the center of town. With churches, gazebos, scattered benches, and local music often playing, it is a true taste of Puerto Plata.

Finally, you will be taken to Playa Dorado, known as the "Golden Beach" of Puerto Plata, which is located near to the famous Hotel Blue JackTar, where a welcome drink awaits you. The ambiance is strictly tropical and friendly and boasts of lovely beaches and surroundings. Take a stroll, take a dip, it's your choice.  

Your guide, as always, will inform you of the beach and resort activities available to you. You are welcome to purchase food and drinks from the hotel bar. You may use the lounge chair, towel service, and other use of the facilities including complimentary Wi-Fi internet access. At Playa Dorada, you may also enjoy activities and water sports including windsurfing, snorkeling, kayaking, parasailing, diving, and more, at the client's own expense.

Once you've enjoyed plenty of beach time, you will be returned to the Taino Bay, Puerto Plata cruise ship terminal after a great sightseeing excursion and beach resort excursion in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic!

Where we meet

For this Taino Bay Puerto Plata Highlights Blue and JackTar Beach Resort Excursion, you will meet right outside your Taino Bay Puerto Plata cruise ship pier in the Dominican Republic. All the necessary details will be printed on your Electronic Shore Excursion Ticket.

Excursion Restrictions

• Minimum age to participate is 6 years old.
• The minimum age for alcohol consumption is 18 years old. 
• Guests under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent.
• Guests must fit comfortably in one seat only on the bus/van.
• This excursion is not wheelchair accessible.

Excursion FAQ

Cancellation

• You want to cancel at any time, for any reason, before or after your arrival. Simply contact us via email reservations@shoreexcursioneer.com within 14 days of your missed excursion date for a deposit refund.
• Your ship arrives into port late and you cannot make it in time to the meeting location.
• Your ship misses/skips the port.
• Weather conditions or equipment failure prevents the operator to run the excursion.
• A medical problem prevents you from safely participating in the excursion (we will verify with the tour operator or guest may send doctor's note).
  
• Cancellations that do not comply with the above may not be subject to refund. Guests must notify us within 14 days after their excursion date via email for requesting a refund of booking payment made to Shore Excursioneer.
• Refunds may be subject to a service charge fee as determined by the payment processor, please refer to Terms and Conditions for more information.
